February is one of my favorite months (especially because it’s my birthday). That’s right! I’m an almost Valentine’s Day baby. That means double the gifts. Like I would remind my ex, both days are celebrated separately. There is no combining of the gifts.
Speaking of Valentine’s Day, I’d like to give a shout out to all my single ladies out there who will be celebrating Galentine’s Day. That day where you officially have an excuse to get dolled-up and hangout with the girls, drink lots of wine, and do what women do best . . . laugh out loud.
Awards season is officially here! As an Angeleno, I have to give a nod to all the Oscar parties happening in Los Angeles. But why should celebs have all the fun? Make it a girl’s night in and throw your own Oscar’s party. Download this 2019 Oscar ballot and have fun selecting the winners. Make a contest out of it by giving a prize to the person with the most correct wins (perhaps a bottle of wine). There’s no limit to how grand your party ought to be . . . after all, it’s the Oscars darlin’.
What would February be without Fashion Week. The industry’s hottest designers kick it off for a week of food, fashion, and fun in New York, then it’s off to London, Milan, and Paris where celebrity style icons and fashion influencers rub elbows with all the beautiful people! What? You didn’t get your front row invitation? No worries. You can watch the shows streamed live here from the comfort of your own couch.
February marks the celebration of Black History Month, honoring the historical contributions of the great many men and women of color whose sacrifices positively impacted the lives of all people of color. Black History is so deeply rooted in American history, significantly transcending color and geographic boundaries, that it does not require you to be black to appreciate and celebrate the great accomplishments of these historical figures of the past, present, and future.
The mega-holiday, known as Chinese New Year, is this month, celebrating the Year of the Pig. More than 20 percent of the world’s population will plunge into two weeks of feasts, fireworks, and festivities. All the major U.S. cities are having spectacular celebrations, just check your local listing or click here to find out who’s doing what, where.
I’m looking forward to the ScotsFestival and International Highland Games at the Queen Mary in Long Beach, Ca. With whiskey and scotch tastings, music, dancing, archery, and ax throwing tournaments, this is one weekend party I don’t want to miss.
