Happy Wednesday everyone! I hope the week has been good to you so far.
I was in the bookstore yesterday and the hot topic seemed to be “how to live a meaningful life” – which got me thinking, “Am I living a meaningful life? Or am I just existing?”
I am constantly surrounded by bad ass women doing amazing things in the world and living a meaningful life. Take my girl, Kali. She helps foster youth, who have maxed out of the system, find and move into their first apartment. My girl Kimberly sits on the board of the housing authority and fights for equal access to housing for all and against housing discrimination in her home state. I could go on and on. So I started pondering the question: what more can I do in order to live a meaningful life? What does it mean to live a meaningful life? And as I was pondering these questions, I happened to come across Maria Shriver’s I’ve Been Thinking . . and her newly released I’ve Been Thinking. The Journal. The book, and its accompaniment, are so powerful that I wanted to share a couple of her thoughts with you all.
I believe that we have all been put here on this Earth for a reason. That nothing was left to chance. And yes, I agree with Maria Shriver, “. . . it’s our life’s work to figure out who we are, what we think, what our gifts are, and how we can make a difference in this world.”
So as we push through the rest of the week – and the rest of our lives for that matter – let’s take some time to reflect on what it means to live a meaningful life. It’s going to mean something different for everyone, and that it should. As Maria points out, “Who you become as a person is up to you-up to your imagination, your will, your determination, your choices. . . This day offers each of us a chance to be the person we want to be.”
– Have a fantastic rest of the week everyone! –
