I was reading an article in a fashion magazine and I couldn’t help but notice the tone that it was written in. I thought the article was going to be an empowering and uplifting piece of reading, when in fact, it turned out be about body bashing and female celebrities who had yet to shed their baby fat after pregnancy. I felt sad for all the impressionable young women who were going to read that article and focus on their own body image with shame.

That is exactly what I don’t want this site to be about. So from here on out ladies, can we  make a pact to only use positive talk when having heart-to-hearts with ourselves? That means no more mentally inflicting pain on ourselves. No more comparing ourselves to others. No more allowing others define who we are. NOPE! From here on out, we need to make a pact that we, as strong, courageous, empowering women are going to love ourselves and raise our self-confidence meters on a daily basis. We are going to toast our awesomeness everyday. We are going to end the day with a toast celebrating yet, another day we’ve conquered.

For some of you, it might seem a little awkward to look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how FABULOUS you are. Or to stand there, raise your glass and make a toast to yourself. But I am asking you to do these things everyday. I’m also asking that you wear something that makes you feel like the sexy goddess that you are. It could be a bra, underwear, a blouse, a brooch, or something as simple as a smile. But I want you to wear something that makes you feel sexy everyday!

The Washington Post published an enlightening article on the benefits of getting into the habit of being kind to yourself. We all know what a compliment does to our self confidence. So why don’t we practice giving ourselves that boost of confidence on a daily basis. We don’t need to wait for someone to pay us a compliment. We can do that all on our own.

When you wake up in the morning, look in mirror, remind yourself how fabulous you are, and tell yourself five wonderful things that make you fabulous.

It’s true. Stuff happens in life and there will be times when you may feel like a failure. Perhaps a relationship/friendship ended and you spent the next few weeks, months or years eating to comfort your pain; or your kids woke up one morning and decided they hate you (with teens, this can be an everyday occurrence); or you didn’t get that promotion or raise that you worked so hard for. Well, I’m here to tell you, you are anything but a failure. The fact that you’ve made it this far in life, despite all the curve balls thrown at you, makes you are a warrior princess, and a warrior princess is NEVER a failure.

Create a Sense of Accomplishment

It’s a fact: 91% of the people who make  resolutions fail to accomplish them. Why? Because they create unrealistic timelines for the difficult goals they have set for themselves. Instead, start with small goals that you can accomplish easily. Once you’ve gotten into the flow of meeting your small goals, move on to harder goals. Keeping a daily list of all your accomplishments – both big and small – will build or reinforce your self-confidence.
